On last 29th September 2015, School of Aerospace Engineering, USM have been conducted a visit to air traffic control tower at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, Alor Setar, Kedah. The purpose of this visit is for student exposure with air traffic control task besides to have clear perspective on DCA scope in general. There are eight postgraduated student and three staff participated in this visit which lead by Dr. Elmi Abu Bakar, Deputy Dean, Division of Industry & Community Network. Our delegate was welcome by Mr. Hafizuddin, one of air traffic control officer during arrival.
Mr. Zuraidi explain about ATC scope
During visit, we have been explained about air traffic control (ATC) scope included standard of procedure (SOP) during an emergency cases, some DCA act about flying drone, how technically design an airport, communication between pilot and ATC officer in different airport. In general ATC in LTSAH 15km square up to 10,000 feet latitude. During visit, several fixed wing plane and rotor blade were perform flight training around airport. This visit ended on 5.00 pm before heading back to USM Engineering Campus.
