On 20th April 2017, Aerial System Robotic (ASRO) team was involved in Asia-Pacific University-Community Engagement Network (APUCEN) head by Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Datuk Professor Dr. Asma Ismail for this year, 2017. ASRO that is supervised by Dr. Elmi Abu Bakar was assigned to perform gimmick and exhibition for APUCEN ceremony opening in Jen Hotel, Penang. The APUCEN2017 is launched by Dato' Seri Haji Idris bin Jusoh who are Malaysian politician and the current Minister of Higher Education.
The drone operation for the gimmick was involved with Mr. Zaim and Mr. Hazim who are the drone pilot and the other supporting crews are Mr. Zihad, Mr. Amir, Mr. Shukri, Mr. Faisal and Mr. Azrul who are assigned with different task. For instances, the spotter crew are responsible to assist drone pilot while in operation and the other crew responsible to ensure the drone is safe while flying.

For APUCEN2017, the gimmick is prepared with a bunch of LED with 3 colours that are represent APUCEN theme colour. Approximately 300 of LED are integrated with small batteries in order to light up the LED. The plan is to release the LED from the drone and falling like a LED downpour. However, ASRO team were advice to change to another plan since the LED is not obvious while rehearsal. It was eventually continue by lift up a synthesizer box made by student for School of Art. The drone is flown to the stage and send the box to our crew before hand over to the minister for launching.
