One of our alumni from the 2012-2016 cohort, Mr How Yong Guan, has been awarded with the Outstanding Graduate Enterprise from Universiti Sains Malaysia. The award is given to graduates who operate profitable businesses with positive and outstanding impact. Yong Guan attended the USM's Majlis Persada Kencana event on 3 December 2018 to receive the award. The event was held annually to recognize outstanding leadership and entrepreneurship skills from USM students and graduates.
Yong Guan's journey of entreneurship started during his Final Year Project (FYP) on drone technology at the School of Aerospace Engineering USM under the supervision of Ir. Dr. Ahmad Faizul Hawary. Together with his FYP partner, Hoe Yew Hock (also an alumnus from our School), they joined a national innovation competition for their FYP projects and won the start-up pre-accelerator pitching competition during the grand finale of the event
