NIBONG TEBAL, 7 June 2022 - A signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and China University of Geosciences (CUG) took place via an online meeting as a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two universities.
CUG is recognised by the China Ministry of Education as a Double First Class university and was represented by the Vice President of CUG, Prof. Lai Xulong, as well as Prof. Gan Yiqun, Prof. Guan Qingfeng, Mr. Zheng Shimeng and other delegates. It is one of the top universities in China and exerts considerable influence on the Chinese mining and oil industry. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Of USM, Ybhg. Prof. Dato’ IR. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed with the team from School of Aerospace Engineering, Prof. Farzad Ismail, Dr. Ho Hann Wei, Dr. Zhou Ye, represented the party from USM and its commitment to the collaboration. Mr. Liu Nick from DCN education service company as USM’s representative in China was also present in the meeting.
“The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding between our two institutions today symbolizes a partnership which we believe will lead to many new joint research initiatives that will produce new synergies, and add academic value for both USM, and CUG in years to come,” said Prof. Abdul Rahman in his opening speech.
After the signing of MOU, the delegates from both universities exchanged inputs on the cooperation plan details. This partnership has certainly strengthened the relationship between the universities and paved the way for future collaboration in both educational programmes and scientific research corporation.
