It is a pleasure to have successfully conducted our "Alumni Talk" session with Alex Khoo (Aerospace Engineering USM Class of 2015), moderated by Dr 'Aiffah Mohd Ali. Alex is now working with Dyson, leading a multidisciplinary and multiskilled team that specializes in practicing a blend of software, mechanical, and electronics knowledge to develop Dyson's technology and products.
In his talk, Alex shared his journey and experience, beginning as an intern at Dyson in Johor during his third-year undergraduate study, where he was impressed with the serious engineering and research activities being done at Dyson that convinced him to continue pursuing an engineering career with Dyson immediately after graduating from USM.
He also shared his experience of working on various exciting and challenging projects, particularly those related to R&D, and seeing how Dyson rapidly changed over the years that he was there to adapt to the advances in technology, especially on automation, big data, and IOT. He highlighted the uniqueness of his background as an aerospace engineer, which has provided him broad coverage of knowledge to bridge the gaps between the mechanical and electrical engineering fields, and has enabled him to lead a multidisciplinary and multiskilled team at Dyson.
Listen to Alex’s excitingly successful story working at Dyson, applying and practicing the engineering knowledge that he learned at the School of Aerospace Engineering USM, as well as expanding these knowledge and skillsets in multidisciplinary environment to build and improve the complex engineering products that Dyson is globally famous for. On behalf of the School, we want to thank Alex for his energetic and wonderful sharing of his experience as an engineer at Dyson in this session to all the aero students here.
