In a vibrant collaboration between ASM Northern Chapter, Akademi Sains Malaysia, and the Centre for Innovation and Consultation at Universiti Sains Malaysia, the STEM Youth Program 2023 took flight on the 23rd of October, 2023. This exhilarating event unfolded within the hallowed halls of the Main Hall, Engineering Campus at Universiti Sains Malaysia, under the visionary leadership of Ir Dr Ahmad Faizul Hawary.
The day-long workshop was a testament to the collective dedication of the organizing team, comprising 5 experienced staff members and 4 dynamic aerospace engineering students. Their shared mission was clear: ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in the hearts of over 120 primary school students.
From the very outset at 10:00 a.m., the air was charged with excitement and curiosity. The young minds gathered, eager to embark on a hands-on journey into the world of aerospace engineering. The day's agenda was a testament to the program's commitment to fostering practical skills and critical thinking.
The focal point of the workshop was a riveting project - the Design, Build and Fly Air Jet Drone. Guided by experienced mentors, the participants dove into the intricate process of conceptualizing, designing, and constructing their own drones. This immersive experience not only honed their technical abilities but also nurtured teamwork and problem-solving skills.
As the clock struck 3:00 p.m., the Main Hall was abuzz with the hum of propellers and the triumphant cheers of successful flights. The culmination of the day's efforts was a testament to the power of hands-on learning and the boundless potential of young minds. Each participant departed with newfound knowledge, a tangible sense of accomplishment, and a spark of inspiration to reach for the skies.
The STEM Youth Program 2023 was more than just a workshop; it was a platform for dreams to take flight. Through the collaborative efforts of ASM Northern Chapter, Akademi Sains Malaysia, and the Centre for Innovation and Consultation at Universiti Sains Malaysia, this event breathed life into the aspirations of tomorrow's engineers, innovators, and leaders. The legacy of this transformative day will undoubtedly reverberate through the halls of education, leaving an indelible mark on the future of STEM.
