After 2 years of careful planning and hard work, USM RC Plane Club hosted the first edition of the thrilling RC FEST (Remote Control Festival). The audience gazed at the skies as 6 pilots from each squadron of USM RC Plane Club battled it out in a showcase of skillful aerobatics and outstanding composure.
In the months that lead up to RC Fest 2024, ground crews of each squadron worked tirelessly to design and build their respective Remote Control Jets while pilots perfected their piloting skills on Remote Control Simulators. As each pilot completed their maiden flight, they earned a callsign that certified their hard work and commitment. Each squadron was fueled and ready to compete in RC FEST 2024.
Associate Professor Dr. Zulfaa Mohamed Kassim, the Deputy Dean of Academic at the School of Aerospace USM, praised the 'awesome' nature of the event and expressed gratitude for the invitation to attend.
Pilots and respective squadrons were awarded prizes for their performances, including an award for the 'Audience Best Choice Pilot' where audience members voted for their favorite pilot of the day.
The event also hosted STEM exhibitions by USM IET on Campus and USM Drone Club. The audience also enjoyed food and drinks sold by the Business and Sponsorship Department of USM RC Plane Club and Mulut Manis on the day. On top of that, a lucky draw was held throughout the event, where several audience members walked away with exciting prizes.
