Becoming an aerospace engineer is an exciting endeavour that will help prepare you with the mindset, technical knowledge, scientific thinking, skillsets, and strong attitude to be able to serve professionally at an industry or institution of your choice, or even to venture out as an entrepreneur of your own company. Aerospace engineering is a multidisciplinary field with the primary aim of developing machines that fly: aircraft, helicopters, rockets, satellites, missiles, drones, and eventually flying cars in the near future. Aerospace engineers design and build these machines, including their systems and components; enhance the performance and functionalities of the machines by inventing new technologies or improve current technologies, and solve engineering problems through the application of aerospace engineering knowledge and skills.
However, being an aerospace engineer does not necessarily limit a person to work in a company that builds aircraft and their components only or in an airline company serving as an aircraft engineer only. Our graduates are trained with broad enough skills and knowledge to prepare them to take up other challenging roles, such as in the leadership and management positions, either in relevant industries or in other sectors and institutions.
In addition, many of the aerospace technology, originally developed to build flying machines, are being used to build other machines and devices as well, in other sectors that include renewable energy, medical and health sectors, electrical and electronics, and many others. Basically, aerospace engineers have the flexibility to contribute to a wide variety of industries and sectors that require their specific skills and talents.
